Thursday, 17 October 2013 07:04

Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri, as the National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, was honored to have a personal meeting with President of the United States Barack Obama in the Oval Office as she toured the White House with the courageous young children representing Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Her visit was part of the second portion of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Celebration that began in Washington, D.C., on Monday, October 14. Nina was honored to share this special weeklong series of events to honor Champions from each state of the nation and show their true spirit as they overcome their challenges in battling life-threatening illnesses.

The events in Washington, D.C., began with a breakfast of Champions shared with their families, followed by a special visit to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Following that, Nina had the opportunity to visit Children's National Medical Center to spread some Miss America cheer to the children of the hospital.

On Tuesday, the Champions boarded a bus to enjoy a beautiful day on Capitol Hill to visit the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial. Then Nina joined the Champions for a Capitol Hill Luncheon at The Hart Building, where they were special guests, and enjoyed a private tour of the historic building. The evening was topped off with a lovely boat cruise on the Potomac River, where the Champions had the opportunity to have fun and build new friendships.

The Champions and Nina will leave the celebration with incredible memories and an experience of a lifetime. Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri and The Miss America Organization are proud to congratulate Children's Miracle Network Hospitals on an incredible celebration that continues to inspire us all.
