Miss Kanawha Valley Scholarship Organization Pageant Announces Winners

Eleven contestants competed in the seventh annual Miss Kanawha Valley Scholarship Organization pageant this weekend in Institute.

Four titles were awarded: Miss Kanawha Valley, Miranda Harrison; Miss Capital City, Megan Godfrey; Miss Appalachia, Jackie Riggleman and Miss Whitewater, Katie Wright.

 

Miranda Harrison

  • Freshman at Marshall University, studying Performance Theater
  • Sang "Feeling Good" by Michael Buble
  • Promotes her platform, "Never Say Never," about supporting childhood cancern patients and their families

Megan Godfrey

  • Senior at Concord University, studying Secondary Education
  • Danced a jazz piece to "Do Your Thing" by Basement Jaxx
  • Promotes her platform, "Making Time to Volunteer"

Jackie Riggleman

  • Junior at West Virginia University, studying journalism
  • Danced a lyrical piece to "Jellicle Cat" from the Broadway show Cats
  • Promotes her platform, "Character Education, Reaching for the Stars"

Katie Wright

  • Sophomore at Marshall University, studying History
  • Danced a ballet piece to "Pure Imagination" a GLEE cover from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

 

Miss West Virginia, Spenser Wempe and Miss West Virginia's Outstanding Teen, Isabel Raese also attended the pageant to speak and perform.

Each of the four Miss Kanawha Valley Scholarship Organization winners won scholarships, prizes, and will go on to compete at the Greenbrier for the title of Miss West Virginia 2012. For more information, visit www.misswestvirginia.org
