Samantha Rizzuto - First Runner-Up

Rizzuto

Long Valley, New Jersey

Samantha Rizzuto began competing for the Miss America Organization when she was thirteen years old. She has had the honor of being Miss Camden County's Outstanding Teen and Miss Stars and Stripes Outstanding Teen. She is currently Miss Liberty's Outstanding Teen. She loves the fact that the Miss America Organization is like a sorority, and she has found valuable mentors in older contestants and has been encouraged and supported by local and state directors. Samantha performs classic vocals for her talent, and her platform is STEM-CAM which stands for developing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics by building confidence, changing attitudes, and mentoring programs.

"I am passionate about science and aspire to be a NASA Engineer. However, I realize not everyone, especially not girls, share the same enthusiasm for Math and Science. This is detrimental because STEM related occupations offer more opportunities for individuals while supporting our countries economic growth and global security," Samantha said.

Samantha said she exemplifies all four points of the crown in her daily life. She is academically focused and community minded. She is also heavily involved in volunteer services—she works with the American Diabetes Association and has coordinated diabetes-friendly family cooking lessons. Her volunteer work has been awarded with the Prudential Spirit Award and the Kohl's Service Award.
