The Miss America Organization is happy to congratulate Miss America 1989 and Miss America Board Member Gretchen Carlson on the debut of her new show, The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, on Fox News Channel. The former FOX & Friends co-host took over the 2 p.m. hour on the network starting Monday, September 30.

Joining the daytime line-up, The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson will focus on current events from general news and crime to politics and investigative reports. In this new role, Gretchen will interview newsmakers and lead in-depth panel debates, lending viewers context and perspective on the headlines of the day. The program will also utilize social media to explore trending news stories and enlist viewer feedback.

Throughout her career, Gretchen has showcased her talents as a strong interviewer and skilled moderator, both of which will serve her well as she offers viewers a fresh take on the news. Gretchen joined Fox News Network in June 2005 and most recently served as co-host of FOX & Friends. During her tenure at the network, she has reported on major stories and contributed to coverage of the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. Her wide-ranging interviews include then-Senator Barack Obama, then-Senator Hillary Clinton, former First Lady Laura Bush, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, and actress Eva Longoria, among others.

Prior to FNC, Gretchen served as a correspondent and co-anchor of CBS News' Saturday Early Show as well as an anchor and reporter in several local markets. The recipient of the prestigious American Women in Radio and Television "Best Series" award for her thirty-part series on domestic violence, Gretchen has won two Emmys for her work at CBS News. Before embarking on a television career, she was the first classical violinist to be crowned Miss America in 1989.

Congratulations, Gretchen, on your newest television venture and also on marking your twenty-fifth anniversary of being crowned Miss America!
