Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan had a wonderful time as she traveled to Lexington, Kentucky this weekend to participate in events with the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization. She was interviewed by several media outlets, including WLEX-TV, where she ran into actress and comedienne, Aisha Tyler.

Teresa, along with Miss Kentucky 2010 Djuan Trent, made a joint appearance at the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital, visiting more than a dozen children room by room. Teresa and Djuan lifted the spirits of these courageous young fighters and brought a little sunshine into their hospital rooms.

That night, the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization held a fundraiser in celebration of the beginning of Kentucky Derby Week with the theme of “Hats Off to Miss America.” Teresa was provided a stunning red custom-made Derby hat by Christine A. Moore.  Our special thanks to the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization and Executive Director, Jamie Breeding for hosting Miss America this weekend!

Yesterday, Miss America kicked off Kentucky Derby week with special events and festivities with her official wardrobe provider, The Joseph Ribkoff Company.   Teresa will  be the fashion correspondent for a store visit to the Willow Tree, a specialty boutique featuring Ribkoff.  Teresa will also be a celebrity judge for the Kentucky Derby’s Pegasus Parade and attend a celebrity luncheon to celebrate this beloved tradition.
