The Miss America Organization is pleased to announce that, for the first time ever, fourpoints Magazine is offering a scholarship to the 2011 Miss America contestants.
The $2,000 scholarship is available to all 53 contestants and will be awarded to one contestant on January 14 at a press conference in Las Vegas. Applicants are considered for the award based upon a combination of factors including, grade point average (high school & college/university), class rank, extra-curricular activities, financial aid requirements, household income, level of participation within the system and an essay, “How do you represent the four (4) points of the Miss America Crown, which are Service-Scholarship-Success-Style?”
“We are thrilled to make this contribution to the 2011 Miss America pageant,” says president and publisher of fourpoints magazine Kasie Smith. “We support the Miss America Organization in every issue of our magazine and it’s wonderful to extend that support to the contestants of the 2011 Miss America pageant.”
The recipient of the first-ever fourpoints scholarship will be announced on Thursday, January 13 during pageant week in Las Vegas. The winner of the fourpoints scholarship will be featured in the April / May issue of fourpoints, along with Miss America 2011.
“We are grateful to fourpoints for their generous scholarship, helping us to grow the more than $45 million in scholarships we make available each year to thousands of young women across the country,” said MAO President and CEO, Art McMaster. “We look forward to our continued partnership with fourpoints.”
