The Miss America Organization is proud to celebrate our Veterans today and everyday! We stand together, united and committed as a loyal supporter of the U.S. military and their families both at home and abroad for over 70 years. As we mark this very special day, we honor our brave Veterans and express our deep appreciation for the sacrifices they have made to keep our country free.
Meeting and personally thanking our wounded soldiers in hospitals, men and women who dedicated their lives in service to the United States, remains one of the most important jobs of Miss America. Her patriotism knows no boundaries and she is honored for the opportunity to personally thank our soldiers for the freedoms we enjoy.
This year as we reflect on the 90-year history of the Miss America Organization, we are reminded of the rich history of supporting the military which is an incredible part of Miss America’s proud tradition. As the universal symbol of freedom, Miss America is able to proudly speak on behalf of our brave men and women and their devoted families who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
"There are simply no words to describe my gratitude and indebtedness to the members of our military. I am able to represent this land of the free only because of the sacrifices of the brave. Today, we remember, pay tribute to, and thank all of the members of our Armed Forces, past and present, veterans and active duty. I am so honored to serve as a small representation of this grateful nation," said Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan.
The Miss America Organization is proud to honor all of our Veterans and we thank you for your incredible sacrifice!
