Get Your Community Involved

Monday, 01 July 2013 03:38

Inspiring the community to become involved in your local or state pageant—and consequently garnering more sponsorships and scholarship dollars—starts from within. When the community sees that a pageant organization is invested in it, then businesses, schools, and other organizations will become involved in the pageant.

Here are three quick tips for getting involved in the community:

Google! Do an Internet search of local organizations with goals and affiliations similar to those of your pageant organization, and connect with them.

Make an old-fashioned phone call. Don’t be afraid to pick up the phone. If your contestants are too young to be on social media channels, or if you’re looking for a way to improve speaking and customer service skills, encouraging contestants to call businesses and local media outlets is a great way to connect your pageant to the masses.

Be out and about. The more the community could see and experience the work your pageant does, the more likely they will be to want to get involved! Make it known that your titleholder is available for appearances, and that your organization is open for volunteering suggestions!
