Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan was a surprise guest at the American Heart Association of Omaha's Heart Walk this weekend, where she welcomed participants from the stage and spoke on healthy eating. Teresa and this year’s Heart Child, Abby and her family led the one-mile walk for children. Teresa had a great time and everyone was very excited, especially the children who had been heart patients and their families.

On Sunday, Teresa participated in the "Reach Out and Read High Heel Dash" with the Junior League of Omaha. Teresa served as the emcee and a judge for the women's dash, men's dash and the relay dash, and she participated in the awards ceremony as well. It was a great day to promote awareness of childhood literacy.

Teresa's next stop is Atlanta, Georgia, where she will continue promoting healthy eating and cooking for children with Produce for Kids, which is educating families about the benefits of healthy eating with fresh produce through a complete marketing campaign hosted in the produce deptartment of all Publix stores June 2 – June 29, 2011.
