Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan will honor both our military and our heroes at home by attending the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.
Miss America's Outstanding Teen will offer a unique opportunity this year with a new scholarship. The Random Acts of Kindness Scholarship will be awarded to one of the fifty-three contestants competing for the title of MAOTeen.
"Wherever there is a human in need, there is an opportunity for kindness and to make a difference. There's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act of kindness creates a ripple effect with no logical end. When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace," quoted the anonymous donor.
"Random acts of kindness" are a means by which we make a deliberate attempt to brighten another person's day by doing something thoughtful, nice, and caring for them. Kindness is a way of showing others that they count and that even in the face of hostility and selfishness, you're making a stand for kindness.
The awarding of the $500 Random of Acts of Kindness Scholarship will keep everyone on the edge of their seats. Make sure to attend the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant August 13-17, 2013, in Orlando, Florida. Tickets will soon be available on Ticketmaster.
