And it could be this simple for pageant recruitment. Local Oregon pageant executive director Jen Moser and her fellow Miss Washington County volunteers are out in the field, keeping their eyes open for potential contestants.

Established in July 2013, the Randi Sundquist Foundation is a nonprofit organization working to engage the community in anti-bullying awareness, advocate for those who have been affected by bullying, and provide financial aid for higher education to those who demonstrate a sense of leadership as it pertains to anti-bullying activity.
What do you do when life hands you lemons? If you’re fourteen-year-old Miss Fallen Timbers’ Outstanding Teen Shayla Thomas, you make lemonade—lots and lots of lemonade. Shayla’s platform, pediatric cancer, is near and dear to her heart. At seven years old, Shayla lost her only sibling, Christi, to cancer. Since then, she’s been working to raise money and awareness in every way possible. The popular lemonade stand fundraiser, in addition to others, has helped her raise more than $15,000 for a single foundation.
Models for Miracles started in Wichita, Kansas, in 2010 as an opportunity for individuals to engage in leadership opportunities, serve their community, and raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The original executive board was comprised of three women and one teen who had a vision to raise money for CMN in a unique way that might better engage teens.
Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri continued her national media tour in New York City, New York, today. She made a special visit Friday morning to MSNBC to speak to host Richard Lui about being the second consecutive Miss America from NYC and the first of Indian descent. This segment will aired on MSNBC during the 11 a.m. EST hour.
The creative genius and magical whimsy of renowned crystal couture designer Sondra Celli (TLC’s My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding and uniform designer for this year’s New England Patriots Cheerleaders) will dazzle all at the Miss America Boardwalk Parade in Atlantic City on September 14, 2013. The annual Show Us Your Shoes parade features all of the 2013 Miss America contestants riding a two-mile route while sporting innovative state-inspired outfits with matching shoes.
Miss New Mexico's Outstanding Teen organization crowned its 2013 titleholder, Jaden Smith, on June 22. But a very special presentation was made that night to the outgoing titleholder Natalie Benson. Competition emcee Heather French Henry read aloud from a letter sent to the organization from the New Mexico Cancer Center. The letter stated:
Newly crowned Miss Northern West Virginia's Outstanding Teen Krystian Leonard will be a part of the Contagious Optimism book two, slated for publication in spring 2014. Her essay, detailing her personal story that inspired the publication of Shining Scars and her journey through pageantry, will be included in the project. Krystian was chosen as one of the twelve who will speak at the Tedx Live event in Florida, in December. She will also attend the Contagious Optimism event as one of twenty speakers chosen to travel to Florida in April.
